Wilkes University invites applicants for a General Maintenance Technician in the Facilities Department. The position performs set-ups associated with University events (e.g. graduations, orientations, homecoming, various events and performances), logistical moves and campus deliveries (e.g. furniture, equipment, supplies). It provides maintenance support with general cleaning duties (e.g. cleaning up spills, trash removal), performs daily general maintenance (reset breakers, painting, etc.) and work associated with seasonal grounds maintenance and care (e.g. snow removal, litter removal, etc.).

High school diploma or GED required. Minimum of six (6) months work experience in a customer service and labor-oriented work environment. Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License is required. Knowledge of best practices in general maintenance and grounds maintenance and care preferred.

Proficient technical and manual skills to perform associated general maintenance manual tasks. Basic knowledge of computers (Word, Excel and web based applications) required. Applicant must have the ability to occasionally lift at least 100 pounds, to read and comprehend schematic drawings, safety regulations and other documentation pertinent to the position. Good customer service skills and the ability to function well in a team environment.

Schedule is typically a 40 hour work week (some overtime is required) consisting of the following work schedule:

Work week is Wednesday thru Sunday. Hours for Wednesday thru Friday are 10:00 am to 6:30 pm.  Hours for Saturday and Sunday are 6:30 am to 3:00 pm.
