Wilkes University invites applicants for a Carpenter in the Facilities Department (Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm).

The successful candidate is responsible for working independently, as well as with colleagues, in performing major and minor carpentry repairs throughout campus. Candidate will respond to requests for services, while also performing routine and preventative maintenance on doors, partitions, locks and door hardware, windows and window treatments, flooring, roofs, and roof systems, room furnishings and other items and systems. Maintains, constructs and performs repairs, renovations, alterations and installations on a wide variety of building materials throughout the university.

A high school diploma or GED and a valid driver's license is required. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years prior experience in all aspects of the carpentry field. A practical knowledge of various trades including electrical, plumbing, and painting is preferred. The candidate is required to have proficient technical skills to perform associated tasks, the ability to lift 50lbs and to read and comprehend safety regulations and other documentation pertinent to the position. Basic knowledge of computers (Word, Excel and web based applications) strongly preferred. Candidates must successfully pass a background check. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
