Wilkes University invites applicants for two Communications Officers in the Department of Public Safety.

The Communications Officer is responsible for receiving and clearly transmitting information via the campus radio and telephone systems and maintaining a detailed activity log of all related public safety actions. This position is also responsible for assisting in maintaining the Public Safety databases; assisting with training system users in the use of the databases; and operating the University switchboard, information line and emergency line.

Minimum qualifications: A High School diploma is required. Two to four years office experience or an equivalent combination of education and work experience that demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities to perform the job. Working knowledge of computer applications and experience with databases and data entry.

Required skills: Excellent verbal communication skills to relay information accurately and efficiently. The ability to assess a situation quickly; remain calm and react appropriately in stressful situations. A high degree of accuracy and attention to details. Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, tact and diplomacy at all times. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
